If you want to set up sudo for an existing user, go to <strong>Step 3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1 : Access Your Server<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Connect to root user with SSH:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code lang=\"bash\" class=\"language-bash\">$ ssh root@your_server_ip_address<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2 : Adding a new user<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the <kbd>adduser<\/kbd> command in order to add a new user to your system:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code lang=\"bash\" class=\"language-bash\">$ adduser bob<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Replace&nbsp;<strong>bob<\/strong>&nbsp;with the username that you want to create.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, enter some data on the new user. [Y\/n] y<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3 : Add user to sudo group<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To add a user to the <strong>sudo<\/strong> group, use the <kbd>usermod<\/kbd> command:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code lang=\"bash\" class=\"language-bash\">$ usermod -aG sudo bob<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure to change <strong>bob<\/strong> once more to the username you just added.
